As June came to a close, I travelled to Adelaide to visit my best friend before she embarked on her worldly adventures, and also for work of course. I teamed up with super talented Stacey of casper&pearl to photograph their S/S 15 campaign. Here’s a snap from one of our locations on the day, Adelaide locals will know exactly where this is!

I photographed gorgeous Logan from Azalea models in the Japanese gardens. On my bus ride to the gardens the driver warned me of a storm that was due to roll in over the city in a few hours time. He looked at me like I was crazy for wanting to stroll through the gardens in this weather. The wind was fierce, and moments after taking this picture the sky opened up and it began absolutely pouring with rain. The storm had arrived. Luckily we had all the shots we needed!

I love going for dusk-lit walks in the peak of winter. I rug up in jumpers, jacket, beanie and scarf and adventure out into the evening mist. It’s quiet, deserted and incredibly beautiful. I’m not really exercising… but more cleanse my mind and have some alone time. I think what I cherish most is that I can’t ‘work’ during these blissful oceanside walks. No emails, editing, or crafting to be done. Just me, the ocean and music pulsing through my bones.

This month I’ve ditched gluten, dairy and well, basically anything that comes out of a packet. Instead I’m eating lots of nuts, fruit, legumes, veggies and even a coconut flour cake or two. I’ve made this change in hopes of clearing a skin allergy, and also to see if it has an impact on my overall health. Our tummies effect how we feel, think, look, and it’s definitely time that I helped mine to be healthier. It hasn’t been easy but three weeks in and I feel happier and healthier than I’ve ever been. This was my weekly market purchase, all under $50!

First signs of spring. Photographing flowers has to be one of my all time favourite things. Their beauty, colours, symmetry, shapes. There’s something magical about forever capturing the beauty of a flower, to be admired long after it’s decay.

Early morning breakfast with lovely Lydia at the Abbortsford Convent. It was so awesome to be able to order something gluten free and vegan! After our yummy breakfast we explored the gardens and said hello to the farm animals.

Photographing the Her Pony S/S 15 lookbook! Lauren is such a talented designer, and Bea is the perfect model, it was a dream team! And we shot at our office space with plenty of yummy sushi to eat and the heater on to keep us warm. Definitely a plus to not shooting outdoor on location 😉

I often get questions about what I do for a ‘day’ job. Fortunately my job is awesome! I am a photographer and writer for Emporium Melbourne shopping centre in the CBD. I get different assignments each week which keeps it really fun, and this past week I was photographing at the Topshop opening and media events. It was so nice to see beautiful Helena (top, centre) and also to meet some really lovely Topshop ambassadors and snap their picture (Isabelle Cornish below). Oh and don’t even get me started on how good the freebie bags are! Emporium are always posting awesome stuff, you can see it on their Facebook page.

USA Map

At the end of this month (August) I will be travelling and spending a month in the USA! I am beyond excited. I would love to hear of any recommendations, places to see, tips for travelling (and tips in general) and maybe if there are a few photographers interested in any of these cities we could hang out and take some pictures! Here are the places I am visiting:

New Orleans: 28/08/14 – 03/09/14

New York: 03/09/14 – 10/09/14

San Francisco: 10/09/14 – 15/09/14

Las Vegas: 15/09/14 – 20/09/14

Los Angeles: 20/09/14 – 25/09/14

If you are a model and you’d like to collaborate on a test shoot send me an email with a picture of yourself, I am saving space for one test shoot per city. Alternatively if you might like to book me for some work, also email me! I’m up for anything!

Ah I can’t believe you are visiting the US! I hope you have a great trip (I am sad that you won’t be visiting Chicago, but the places you picked are great!). I visit NYC a lot and I think you would really like Williamsburg! There are a lot of great food options there and it is such a pretty neighborhood. Can’t wait to see your photos after all of this!

Claire, i love this monthly post. I know the feeling of walking to the dusk-lit in the peak of winter. I experienced that a while ago when i travelled to Australia that i can’t experience here in my city. I’m totally falling in love with those photographs of pinky sky. If there were postcards i would definitely to add them to my collections <3
Also, i really wish you to have fun on your trip to USA. I'm excited as well because i hope you can help me to know another part of the world i never been through your photographs and words.
