Theres something about the trains and trams of melbourne that fascinate me. Maybe it’s because we don’t really have them in my hometown. In Adelaide there is only one tram that runs from the city to the sea, and the train tracks we have only lead to the far north or south.

My thoughts are free to roam while riding the train and I get the perfect opportunity for my favourite pass time, people watching. There are old friends and young friends, the boy with a tattered skateboard, a child peering with wonderment at the world racing by. There are happy people and sad people, everyone is sharing this quiet, personal moment together. I watch with wild eyes as I take in each face. Who is the girl with the tired eyes? What is her story? Does she paint? Maybe she is on her way to meet her lover. I silently click my shutter from the hip, not daring to disturb these private, intertwined worlds.
