SEASIDE ADVENTURE PART ONE

  • Apr 16, 2013

It’s been too long since I have been on the open road.

I packed my little brown bag (two pairs of overalls for good measure) and waited for my mother and stepfather to pick me up. We were adventuring to the small town of narooma in rural NSW, with a nights stop over in lakes entrance. Poor martin was left at home to baby sit bunny and to work over the weekend.

I feel restless now that I am back in Melbourne. Being on the road sparks a wanderlust in my heart that does not want to keep quiet. I need to keep moving, my feet get itchy if I stay in one place (a result of moving so much while i was a child). We have been in melbourne for just over a year now and I am already familiar with our surroundings, almost too familiar. I long for the day we can sell our belongings and live a life of endless travel, with not a single worry in the world.

I took too many pictures on this trip, I can’t help but watch the world through my lens. For that reason I have split our adventure into two parts, here is part one of the story in pictures.

stormy skies on the road.

as we drove over the bridge into lakes entrance i saw a group of pelicans resting on the beach.

after we had settled into our cosy little motel room, we drove back to the bridge so i could take some photographs

day two and we were back on the road. i watched endlessly out the window, the countryside flying past, wishing we could stop at every beautiful place i saw (which was about every two minutes!)

a road-side market in a small country town

mama stopped to buy some homemade jam

little girls on holiday with their family

i bought some gemstone treasures to wire wrap (i have a habit of collecting stones).

next stop was a little town that was over crowded with holiday goers.

buying supplies from country supermarkets

we stopped at a truck stop so my parents could use the bathroom… which turned out to be so disgusting they ran about screaming! i laughed and laughed.

we live in a beautiful world.

the endless road

we were so close but couldn’t help stopping to explore the waterside

we arrived at our humble little hotel room, very cozy and right beside the sea.

after we were settled we drove to the new home my parents have just bought. coming up from over the hill and seeing this beautiful home for the first time i instantly fell in love. country living, with veggie patch and chicken coup, acres of land, sustainable rain water and bore water. i can’t wait until they move here so i can visit!

the perfect verandah. all it needs is a comfy rocking chair!

light-filled rooms

the sweetest veggie patch, already with so much growing freely!

the garden is full of wildly growing flowers

and home to happy magpies that kept following me.

mama collected wild flowers from the garden

the sun was setting as we explored the sleepy little town

at night i ran out into the street to see a beautiful full moon and millions of twinkling stars.

(part two to come soon!)
